The Homework Central add-on for the School Management System is a very intuitive and user friendly online medium for teachers, students, and parents. Simply put, this add-on just allows each class to easily post text, photos, or other media online each week of the school year. Material from past weeks are not discarded, rather stay online in the system until the next school year.
Now with Homework Central and the other add-on suites, there are two parts to these. The public facing interface and the administrative Spruance interface. Let’s start with the administrative interface and how your teachers will enter their information.
Teachers enter content using a user friendly interface found inside the Spruance Web Controller. Using their own login to the site, they simply select their class and the week they want, and they can start typing.
Within this Spruance interface you will notice the classes organized by grade on the left side of the screen. Once a class and week are selected the textbox editor will appear allowing the teacher to edit their information.
Teachers will be able to work within this Spruance interface just like Microsoft Word by clicking on the HTML Editor button found just beneath the large textbox. This will open a popup window with a larger and more familiar interface than the raw HTML that will appear in the large textbox.
The flipside to the Homework Central add-on is your student and parent experience on the public facing site. Using our demo Daslos Academy website we will step you through their simple to use interface.
The first step a user will be prompted to make will be selecting their grade from the list on the right. As always, these lists and options are completely based on your setup for the currently set active school year.
After selecting a grade, the user will be prompted to click on a class from within that grade. In our demo we selected first grade, which now displays the list of classes within.
When a user clicks on their class, they are immediately shown the current week’s assignments as well as a list of the other past weeks. Users will only be shown the current and past weeks, allowing teachers to plan ahead and fill out their homework central content as early as they want.
By clicking on any of the weeks listed on the right, the screen immediately loads the content for the selected week.
The Homework Central add-on is really that simple. Of course your teachers will be able to easily include photos, multimedia, and other documents on their pages as needed. There really is no limit as to what a teacher can use this important tool for and how helpful it will become for the class.
